Port Browning – XCPB1 v1.0
Welcome to beautiful North Pender Island. I’ve (sort of) reactivated the landing strip at Port Browning (about 10 nm northeast of Victoria, BC) to make it easier to access the town itself. It’s got a bit of an uphill slope and goes into rising terrain so it’s pretty much one-way-in, one-way-out only. Also there’s still logging going on in the area so watch for equipment. For any of you that are heli equipped, there is a helipad at the threshold of the runway. If you find yourself out after dark, there’s even a chance a local can light some barrel-fires for you though I don’t actually recommend landing here after sunset. Oh and watch for birds. It’s a common island hazard As before, this is a real strip given an appriopriate fake ident as I couldn’t find the actual one it used to have. Hey guys and gals! Today’s my birthday, but YOU will get the presents! Welcome to the New Zealand Southern Island Airfield Pack! New Zealand is a very scenic part of the world an represented quite well in MSFS. BUT there were quite a few airfields and airstrips missing, mostly private and agricultural airstrips. As many of them appear to be very scenic or challenging to fly at I decided to put some work into these and release them A full list of airfields is included to get the (fictional, as these strips don’t have any real airport codes) ICAO codes to access them. Recommendations: Try to land at Quintin Lodge (thanks to Kev for that one!) with a TBM or the Baron, it’s hard, but fun to try! Or hop from Marlborough to Croiselles in a xCub or Savage Carbon (the default Savage Cub won’t make it to the top of the hill if you misjudge the landing space!) Wild Acres – XCVK1 v1.0
Fly into your own berry farm near Vernon, BC. In real life this farm is a regular farm, from what I can tell, but I thought a few trees and bushes would liven it up a bit. The runway itself is around 1500 feet long without major obstacles on either end, making for a pleasant approach either way. As this is a working farm, I recommend against landing amongst the trees or you could run into a picker. As with several of my other airports, the field is real but I could find no accurate ident so I’ve made an appropriate one up.
