Santa Barbara Oil Rig placements v0.1.1
Santa Barbara Rigs – Offshore Oil Platform Placement for Microsoft Flight Simulator This scenery adds all 27 oil platform placements off the Santa Barbara coast, from San Pedro to Vandenberg AFB. This is an early version and will be a work in progress. The primary intent was to add rigs offshore for enhancing helicopter flying in multiplayer and to add something more to do in this scenic area of the world. Even if you’re flying an aircraft up the coast, it’s nice to see the rigs out in the water, especially if you’ve flown in the Southern California area in reality. Although the placement and orientation of the rigs is accurate, the scenery is currently using the default oil rig which is not representative of the platforms in the channel. Eventually, the default rigs will be replaced with more accurate models of the channel rigs. Includes appx location map Includes basic documentation Installation Extract bhd-sbarigs.zip using WinZip, 7-Zip or WinRar. Place the entire bhd-sbarigs folder into the Microsoft Flight Simulator Community Folder. Select Santa Barbara as your start point (KSBA), Platform Holly is right off the coast near the airport. Use the included map and navigation info to explore the area.. Known Issues v0.1.1 Oil rig 3D model is not accurate to actual Santa Barbara platforms.No collision on rig helipads. Might experience -2/3 FPS spikes, but in general – not much performance impact. Spotted Bear USFS Airport 8U4, MT, USA v1.0
Spotted Bear USFS Airport is an airstrip in the Flathead National Forest and is run and maintained by the National Forest Service. It’s situated only 3 miles from the south shore of the Hungry Horse Reservoir and makes a good stop over point for venturing further South into the mountains. The Flathead River running along its eastern side makes a picturesque backdrop for flying in and out. Beside the gras/turf runway, which is 3800 feet long, with a 1100 feet dog leg, you find a ranger station and a farm in the vicinity. Closest charted landing site is Meadow Creek 0S1 approx. 10 miles to the SE. The field elevation, the surrounding mountains and possibly treacherous weather can make operations in the area quite hazardous. Installation: Drop the folder into your community folder. Meadow Creek USFS Airport 0S1, MT, USA v1.0
Meadow Creek USFS Airport is an airstrip located in the Flathead National Forest along the South Flathead River running south from Hungry Horse Reservoir. It’s tugged away in a valley between Spotted Bear Mountain to the North and Meadow Mountain to the South. It’s owned by the USFS and manage through the Spotted Bear Ranger District. Beside the turf runway, which measures 2830 x 100 feet at an elevation of 3993 feet, there is not much out there. Closest charted landing site is Spotted Bear USFS Airport 8U4 approx. 10nm to the NW. Runway surface may consist of tall, wet grass and can be in very soft conditions. Trip-Tip: Approximately, at the third-way mark between Meadow Creek and Big Prairie Ranger St. to the South you find an abandoned and closed airstrip on the western side of the Flathead River. Look for the bridge as a clue! It’s not maintained and party overgrown. Bring a STOL capable aircraft when you chose to give that site a long awaited visit. On the northern side, the runway circle symbol can still be seen between some vegetation. (I have modified the site, but haven’t placed any airport/parking, so you can’t spawn there.
