La Rochelle City v1.0
La Rochelle is a city in southwestern France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is the capital of the Charente-Maritime department. The city is connected to the Île de Ré by a 2.9-kilometre (1.8-mile) bridge completed on 19 May 1988. Its harbour opens into a protected strait, the Pertuis d’Antioche. La Rochelle possesses a commercial deep water harbour, named La Pallice. The large submarine pens built during World War II still stand there, although they are not in use. La Pallice is equipped with oil unloading equipment, and mainly handles tropical wood. It is also the location of the fishing fleet, which was moved from the old harbour in the centre of the city during the 1980s. La Rochelle harbour by Vernet in 1762 and the same view 2019 La Rochelle also maintains strong links with the sea by harbouring the largest marina for pleasure boats in Europe at Les Minimes, and a rather rich boat-building industry which includes Amel Yachts. La Rochelle has a very big aquarium, and a small botanical garden (the Jardin des plantes de La Rochelle). The Calypso, the ship used by Jacques-Yves Cousteau as a mobile laboratory for oceanography, and which was sunk after a collision in the port of Singapore (1996) is now on display (sadly rotting) at the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle. One of the biggest music festivals in France, “FrancoFolies”, takes place each summer in La Rochelle, where Francophone musicians come together for a week of concerts and celebration. 2004 marked the 20th anniversary of this event. The French Socialist Party has held its annual summer convention (Université d’été) in La Rochelle since 1983. Nechranice Dam v1.0
Another creation from my workshop is the Nechranice dam. It is a dam with the largest spillway in Europe (3.4 km) It has a built-in hydroelectric power plant. It is located in northern Bohemia, not far from the city of Zatec (My scenery). As for the modification, I made at least a dam out of the pancake and delivered the construction of the control building, which is in fact accessible through a tunnel from the dam. There is also an overflow, which is used for non-standard discharge of the dam. I’ll leave feedback again. Thank you. Beechcraft G36 Bonanza X Series (8 colours) v1.0
Completing the X series for the Beechcraft range of planes the Bonanza gets all 8 colours. The ugly bonnet paint is gone, while the elegent stripes remain and a resiliant carbon belly and wings. I have tested a new ‘layered’ approach to painting this time, which has allowed a much better control of the colour and also helps not to colour in things that don’t require it! As always with the packs, unzip the file to remove the individual colour folders before dragging them into your community folder. All feedback and comments welcome. Channel Islands Overhaul – Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Alderney + Airports v1.0
This is a complete reworking of the Channel Islands in the English Channel. Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Alderney, Herm, Jethou and Brecqhou have all been dragged from the sea upwards and also the three main airports in the islands have been modified to work with the scenery files, plus a new airport created too. The first flight I took in this sim was from Exeter to Guernsey. Something seemed strange when I approached and I realised all of these islands are totally flat in the sim. This is definitely not true in reality. Despite this EGJB Guernsey and EGJJ Jersey airports have major levelling problems in the sim too. I’ve raised all of the islands from sea level to somewhere near their correct altitudes, creating hills, cliff and valleys. The available terrain tools are painfully crude and this will be obvious in many places – odd transitions, flat plateaus, strange ridges and sections where I’ve clearly said ‘bleurgh, that’ll do.’ This is down to having to juggle differing altitudes and terrain falloff whilst also stopping the sea from being pulled upwards, and one area breaking fatally the moment I repaired another area. Alderney in particular looks like someone has been using it for origami practice and then gave it a chew. I’m going to restart that from scratch. I tried to raise docks and rocks from zero metres above sea level but it’s simply not possible without creating huge glitches. A few might have escaped. You’ll know them if you see them. EGJB Guernsey, EGJJ Jersey and EGJA Alderney airports have all been tweaked and are included in the folder. All of the original functionality is untouched, I added extra details and cured their landscape problems. Alderney airport seems to be a little glitchy with unknown runway surfaces and a tree that appears and disappears but it works. At present they’re all a bit blank but I’ll refine them over time. Brecqhou has had a 150m grass airstrip fitted for you – ZEGBQ – to irritate its evil owners by landing on their lawn. I haven’t terminated all of the silliest buildings, there isn’t much to replace them. And as ever there are trees everywhere that I should remove but for once they’re extremely handy for covering up my brutality. I’ll return to this and try to do better in plenty of areas. Let me know if anything’s broken. I THINK it all works together well enough. This is six files (sorry), one for each airport. One scenery file has Guernsey, Sark, Alderney, Herm, Brecqhou and Jethou in it. The other has Jersey. I didn’t realise I was doing this in a separate file until it was too late and I couldn’t be arsed to restart it.
