Arecibo Observatory v1.0.1
The Arecibo Observatory is an observatory in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, also known as the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center (NAIC). It is owned by the US National Science Foundation (NSF). The main instrument of the observatory was the Arecibo Telescope, a 305 m (1,000 ft) spherical reflector dish built into a natural sinkhole, a cable-mount steerable receiver mounted 150 m (492 ft) above the dish, and several radar transmitters for emitting signals. Completed in 1963, the Arecibo Telescope was the world’s largest single-aperture telescope for 57 years, surpassed in July 2016 by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) in China. The Arecibo Telescope suffered catastrophic structural failure on December 1, 2020 after two cable breaks in the previous months. The Observatory also includes a radio telescope, a Lidar facility, and a visitor’s center which are expected to remain operational after assessing the damage from the main telescope collapse. The observatory was an icon of the Puerto Rican space and science industry. Glasgow – Scotland v1.0
With Glasgow I decided to blend the ground texture of the Google maps photo telemetry with the sims own default ground and road texture. It does make the scenery merge into the surroundings much better but the down side is you run into trouble with bridges and raised roads. I know you can raise or lower the default terrain but it looks odd when you do that with water textures. As such there’s a few areas where the river Clyde runs over low lying bridges slightly and where motorway flyovers have the photo telemetry road texture showing through. Its not an easy problem to solve as far as I can see. Still, it looks a lot better than the autogen version of the city. LGSM – Samos Aristarchos Int’l Airport v1.0
Hello once again! This is Samos Aristachos Int’l Airport. The airport is named after Aristarchos of Samos, an ancient Greek astronomer, and mathematician, and lies within 5 km of the nearby town of Pythagorio. The airport features a single short runway serving both arrivals and departures. The airport’s surroundings leave little room for error or mistake on the behalf of the pilots – with nearby mountains and sea at the end of the short runway. There are often strong Meltemi winds blowing from the north during the summer months which further contribute to the difficulty of the landing. Samos is famous for the approach into runway 09, where pilots have to use visual landmarks to navigate to the runway and make a sharp right turn on a very short final. Try it! This scenery includes custom buildings for the new Terminal and the fire station. Bear in mind, I’m still new to Blender and the objects are not of the best quality. StAndrews – Scotland v2.0
Hi everyone. This is my second and much improved version of my hometown of StAndrews. My earlier version was my first attempt at creating scenery for the sim and as such it wasn’t done great. This new version has much fewer rough edges and bits missing and also has a slightly higher level of detial. All the links golf courses are now included and there is a bit of scenery to the South of the town as I wanted to include the house and area I gew up in. A known issue is that I somehow lost a lot of the night street lighting putting the new scenery mesh over the sims autogen layout of the town. It does seem like you fix some problems and end up creating new ones when you make scnery. I might try and fix this at some point in the future. In the mean time its great for a daytime flight over the old Scottish city. StAndrews is known worldwide as the home of golf but it also features the oldest university in Scotland which is also the third oldest in the Western world. Its a town of great historical importance in Scotland and has the ruins of StAndrews cathedral and castle. The long West sands beach were made famous in the opening scenes of the film Chariots of Fire. RAF Leuchars is very close for a quick flight over it it but I recommend planning a journey from Edinburgh airport and flying up the Fife coast. Puerto Princesa International Airport – RPVP v1.0
My first international airport! This is RPVP, Puerto Princesa Int’l airport. It serves the city of Puerto Princesa and is the gateway to many tourist destinations like the Puerto Princesa Underground River. It serves flights to and from Seoul, HK, Taipei (International wise). The new terminal and apron was opened recently in 2017. I’ve had the privilage of visiting and I can say that it is a really nice airport. *I am unsure on how to work the ATC using the SDK so it may not function properly* *DISCLAIMER* – Scenery is loosely based on google maps satellite imagery and may not be 100% accurate to the real life location. – Scenery assets are made using default assets and is NOT handcrafted. – In any circumstances where I use a non-default asset, I do apologize and It would be great if the owner of said asset (if there is) let me know! – Feedback is greatly appreciated!
