Aircraft Carrier – USS MSFS – UK Mooring v1.1
It’s aircraft carrier time. This is the USS MSFS 1. ICAO – ZACUK. This carrier has been parked just off the Isle of Wight in the UK and is starred. My sources tell me that Joe Biden has been groomed since birth to totally subjugate the Isle of Wight at the behest of the Thule Society so this could turn out to be a frighteningly prescient mod. Other than that revelation I’ve no idea why I put it there. I should’ve gone for somewhere rather more torrid and international but it didn’t occur to me until it was too late. There are at least plenty of places nearby to fly from. Think I’m going to class this as a ‘stunt’ location as there are some, erm, compromises. There are apparently carrier mentions in the developer kit documentation but certainly no sign of them in reality so sadly there are no steam catapults, just your own boring old engines to rely on. This is nothing more than a lump of terraformed and dried out sea with a model thrown on top. The model of the carrier itself is pretty cool for all of 5 bucks. It did have a fully modelled interior down to internal hangars filled with aircraft. That’s all been ripped out to save polygons but the island still has a bit left inside for you to relax in after a tiring afternoon bombing Cowes, Ryde and Ventnor back to the stone age. The carrier has been scaled up to swallow most of the raised seabed but it’s not tooo outlandishly oversized. The overall length is around 470 metres with a 260 metre ish official runway. It has two PAPI lights, one on each side, the other two melted down the side towards the sea. I’ve given the runway landing lights as there is no ‘meatball’ available. There are two parking spaces up from the start of the runway, number 1 is the bigger one, you will likely need to do a U turn if you start from there. ATC has approach, ground and tower. There’s no fancy nav stuff. Compromises – There is no fuel and no pushback, it won’t place items outside official terrain, so once you’re parked up you might be there for good if you’re on the large side. If you start off in the parking spaces it is pointing in the right direction out towards the runway. It seems to run a bit choppily for me. I get this everywhere where there’s an imported model in the open sea, even models of extreme simplicity and this one isn’t too fancy either. Not sure why and hopefully it’s not the same for you. V 1.1 I’ve figured out how to make the whole deck solid. Hurrah. The terraforming still won’t cooperate fully so the apron surrounding the runway is weirdly jagged no matter what I try and there might be the odd bulge but the terrain overspill is largely gone. Now all the deck is usable I’ve reduced the overall length of the ship to around 470 metres from over 600. That may be too big for some still, but you can now try the other parts of the deck too. I REALLY hope the massive chunk of previously terraformed terrain next to the ship is only showing for me and not anyone else. It won’t go away. If you still see it let me know and I’ll have to move the whole mofo. Once I refine the design so one can be knocked out in a short period of time I’ll add one at various other locations around the world. Shuswap Lake Estates – XCSH2 v1.0
While vacationing at the Shuswap, be sure to fly into Shuswap Lake Estates for a round or two of golf. It’s located about 42 nm northeast of Kamloops and 13 nm northwest of Salmon Arm in beautiful Blind Bay. This runway is still operational but as I’m adding idents for small private strips, I’ve gone with the X in front of this as well. The runway itself is around 2000 feet long with a mild slope uphill in the northwestern direction. Be sure to watch for golf carts (not yet added) before landing as the cart paths cross the runway in two spots, making for slight bumps while rolling. In addition to a bit of work on the golf course, I’ve also modified Copper Island to look more like it should. CYBA Airfield & Banff Scenery Upgrade v1.0
CBYA & Banff tourist spots Installation: There are two folders: Banff_CYBA – This is the airfield Banff_Scenery – This is the scenery Either can be used with or without the other, so if you want the scenery without the airfield since in reality it is not active you do not have to use that folder, same goes for the scenery, if you just want the airfield you do not need to add the scenery folder. Though I would highly recommend both as they were designed together. If you have my Previous CYBA airfield make sure you delete it first! Simply unzip the desired folders into your community folder. More infomation about this package: This is an upgrade on my previously exsisting CYBA V2 & Cascade pond release which is now retired. It now includes more detailed scenery for the following areas: Lake Minnewanka Upper bankhead Lower bankhead Ghost town Johnson Lake Two Jake Lake & Campground Cascade Pond There are also various backcountry campgrounds, viewpoints, terrain modifications, and static animals throughout the area Notes: Since some areas would be imposible to see even at low altitude, like backcountry campgrounds I decided to create one campsite on the edge of the water at the location of each campground. as has a scene e.g. kayaks with tents and campfire so they are spotable. Lower bankhead buildings are scaled up, again for the same reason, they would never be seen from the air, and this is a flight sim Known Issues: Depending on hardware there maybe a couple pop up issues with one of the dams that I have not yet sorted out, alot of this was built before I was comfortable with blender so V2 will be much more efficient. Seymour Arm – XCSH1 v1.0
Welcome to Seymour Arm on the sunny Shuswap Lake, located approximately 65 nm northeast of Kamloops and 35 nm north of Salmon Arm. This little town lives life at a slower pace than most but attracts its fair share of campers/houseboaters through the summer months. The airstrip is little more than a line cut in the trees with parking at one end. The runway is relatively long at around 2400 feet but quite narrow between the trees. The strip is real but the ident is fictional as I couldn’t find reference to one. Bring your tent or hit up the historic hotel and stay a while! Oh and as we are out in the wilderness, watch for wildlife!
