Tappan Zee Bridge, New York, USA v1.0

The Tappan Zee, named by 17th century Dutch settlers, is a wide expanse of the lower Hudson River just north of New York City. This new (2017) bridge replaces a deteriorating cantilever bridge that connected Westchester and Rockland Counties since 1955. The dual cable-stayed bridges and roadways extend more than three miles. It is officially named The Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, but it’s still The Tappan Zee Bridge or “The Tap” or “The ‘Z’ Bridge” to local pilots and motorists. This model is a well-known ATC/VFR reporting point for sightseeing flights along the Hudson. Its lighting scheme includes eco-friendly LED lights that can be programmed for special occasions. When more animation support comes available for the Blender exporter, I may update this model. It is just one of more than 40 framerate-friendly bridges I have created all around New York City. Each bridge has three or four LODs, so, for example, you can see the George Washington Bridge from KJFK, but your rig only has to paint 12 faces. Their publication awaits better copy protection.
