Starting with humble beginnings, Phoebus Apollo Aviation has grown into a fast-moving, forward-thinking company, offering unparalleled standards in all areas of aviation. Being based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Phoebus Apollo Aviation is ideally situated in the heart and business centre of Southern Africa.​
The company was conceived in 1979, founded the Flight School in 1996 and in 1998 expanded into scheduled cargo, passenger and charter flights into Southern Africa. Operating up to three Douglas DC4’s and a Douglas DC3 at the time, Phoebus Apollo Aviation became the designated cargo carrier to many countries in Southern Africa, those including Angola, Congo, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe to name but a few. As the company expands and moves into the jet age with a Douglas DC9, the future looks bright for Phoebus Apollo Aviation.
A major part of Phoebus Apollo Aviation is the well known Flight School, based at Rand Airport, Germiston. Founded in 1996 with a single Cessna C152, a leased Piper Arrow and a single Flight Instructor, the Flight School has grown considerably with a fleet now consisting of a Cessna C152, three Cessna C172’s, a Cessna C172RG, used for advanced training and Piper Seneca, Piper Aztec used for Multi-engine training.
