PMDG DC-6B – Südwestflug v1.0
A bit the history of the possible oldest surviving DC-6 in the world, the Cn 42855/4. Delivered to American Airlines on November 24, 1946, registered N90702, “Flagship California” (livery available here) this DC-6 also flew with Air Jordan (JY-ACE), International Airlines (N90702) and Aerovias Panama (HP-361) before the service in Germany by H. Kohler KG on August 20th 1965 as D-ABAH.
Flew shortly with LLoyd until september same year when she was sold to Suedwestflug GmbH where it was used on flights to “Germany´s 17th State”, Mallorca, a popular summer destination. After a sequence of problems with Suedwestflug´s maintenance and finally the grounding of it´s machines, the german newspapers started calling the company “Wildwestflug” leading to bankrupcy risk, the company was rebranded to Germanair from october 1968 on after being aqcuired by Transportflug GmbH.
