Pfalzgrafenstein Kaub v1.0

Pfalzgrafenstein Kaub v1.0

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle, also known as the Palatinate near Kaub, is a toll castle built on a rocky island in the Rhine near Kaub, which dates back to Ludwig the Bavarian, Count Palatine of the Rhine and later Roman-German king and emperor. It was her job to monitor the collection of the ship’s duty at the payment office in Kaub on the right bank of the Rhine. Because of this purpose, the Inselburg – unlike other castles on the Middle Rhine – did not serve as a residence. The structure developed over the years from a tower built by Ludwig IV in 1326-1327.
