Monte Creek – XCKA1 v1.0
Welcome to the base of Monte Creek on the shores of the South Thompson River about 20nm east of Kamloops. This airstrip is based on a real “runway” built by a farmer in real life, where he housed a 172 for years. The identifier is fictional but the location is real. So far as I can tell this was never an officially recognized aerodrome but certainly existed.
The road itself is the runway and it is bound on either end by tall obstacles – power lines on one side and poles/windsock/buildings on the other. This takes a 3000 foot runway and makes the effective length about 1500 feet. Watch for power lines and wildlife!
