Fuji is a city in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. it is located on a plain between Mount Fuji to the north, the Ashitaka Mountains to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the south and the Fuji River to the west. It is an obligatory point of passage both for going up towards Tokyo coming from the south (Osaka, Nagoya, Kyoto), going towards the Izu peninsula by its southern coast, and for going around Mount Fuji by the 'west.
