KILG - Wilmington Airport

Wilmington Airport (ICAO: KILG) (formerly known as New Castle County Airport), is located in New Castle County, Delaware. Five miles (8 km) south of Wilmington and approximately 30 miles (50 km) south of Philadelphia. Construction began on what was Delaware's First Public airport in 1941, the Greater Wilmington Airport. After the Pearl Habor attack in December of 41, the facility was taken over by the United States Army Air Force. In 1942 it was leased by the Army for a dollar a year and renamed, "New Castle Army Air Base". Avelo Airlines began regular service at KILG in February of 2023.
