Sapporo city

Sapporo is the fifth Japanese city in number of inhabitants and the third in area. Located on the island of Hokkaidō, it is the capital of Hokkaidō Prefecture, Ishikari Subprefecture, and a city designated by government ordinance. It is crossed by the Toyohira River, a tributary of the Ishikari River. Sapporo is considered the cultural, economic and political center of Hokkaido.
