Zadar City Full
Zadar, a Croatian city on the Dalmatian coast, is known for the Roman and Venetian ruins of its peninsular old town. Its ramparts contain several Venetian gates. Surrounding the Roman Forum is the Convent of St. Mary, which dates from the 11th century and includes religious artwork dating back to the 8th century. The town also features the majestic 12th century Saint-Anastasie cathedral and the 9th-century round church of Saint-Donat, in pre-Romanesque style.
