Agrigento is a hilltop town on the southwestern coast of Sicily. It is known for the ruins of the ancient city of Akragas and for the Valley of the Temples, a vast archaeological site including well-preserved Greek temples. On the outskirts of the modern city is the Museo Archeologico Regionale Agrigento, which features ancient artefacts and a telamon (giant male statue). To the west, the Scala dei Turchi, an original white stepped cliff, overlooks the fine sandy beaches
