Meung-sur-Loire is a commune in the Loiret department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. The town is located in the south of the Paris Basin, the largest of the three French sedimentary basins. This vast depression, occupied in the past by shallow seas and lakes, was filled, as its base sank, by sands and clays, resulting from the erosion of the surrounding reliefs
