Shuri Castle

Shuri Castle is a gusuku, a form of the medieval Japanese castle located in Naha City (formerly called Shuri), the capital and main city of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The structure was the royal residence of the Ryukyu Kingdom, then the center of government, religion and also the home of the country. The fortified complex of buildings to the east of the downtown hills tower over the harbor from about 120 to 130 m above sea level.
