The Province of Castellón (Spanish: Provincia de Castellón, Valencian: Província de Castelló) is one of the three provinces of the Valencian Community, in eastern Spain. Its capital is the city of Castelló de la Plana. Between the eighth century and the first third of the thirteenth century, the province was in the hands of the Muslims. Jacques I the Conqueror seized it at the expense of the Arab kings of Valencia and incorporated it into the kingdom of Aragon. The first conquest was Morella in 1232
