Barrage de Jonage 1899

The Barrage de Jonage, completed in 1899, is a historic hydroelectric dam that plays a vital role in regulating the flow of the canal and supplying power to the downstream Cusset Hydroelectric Dam. Built by the Société Lyonnaise des Forces Motrices du Rhône, its construction began in 1894. While primarily located in Meyzieu, the dam takes its name from the neighboring commune of Jonage and serves as a key part of the regions late 19th-century infrastructure.
