🧭 Census Mod for Euro Truck Simulator 2: Make Your Map Smarter! Version for (ProMods + BalkanXP)-based combos *Based on: ETS 2 Promods Based Global No RoEx Map combo & load order (by OrangeLion889) & Load Order 154 (by BXP discord) Census is a large-scale project designed to bring the entire in-game world map to a unified, accurate, and visually clean standard for displaying settlements. 🎯 Main goal: A complete rework and unification of city names for maximum accuracy, readability, and realism. 🔧 Key improvements you'll get: ✅ Accurate and up-to-date names: — All cities now have modern, official names. — If you enable “additional city names” in the game settings, you'll see native names of cities marked with [*]. — Arabic and other unsupported names are replaced with standardized romanized versions. — Historical or incorrect names have been corrected. ✅ Logical and realistic abbreviations: — Overly long names are replaced with intuitive and widely used abbreviations. ✅ Multilingual translations: — Proper translations are currently available in English and Russian. — If your language isn’t supported yet, a common international name or transliteration is used instead. — Coming soon: German and Polish languages, as well as port names for ferry terminals. ✅ Realistic city importance scaling: — City name and icon size now reflect real-world population! — An enormous amount of up-to-date demographic data has been gathered for almost every settlement in the base game and most popular map mods. — Capitals and megacities now stand out more clearly, while small towns look appropriately modest. ✅ Smart zoom behavior: — In densely populated areas, smaller towns disappear when zoomed out to keep the map clean and readable. — Zoom in, and they reappear. ✅ Expanded list of “key cities”: — More cities are now available for fast travel and job access without visiting them first. — This includes all capitals, major cities, and strategic hubs from popular map mods. ✅ Unified standard across ALL map mods: — Regardless of your map combo, Census ensures a consistent, predictable, and accurate display of all cities. ⚙️ Technical Details & Key Info: Scope of work: Over 4,300 city entries reworked, covering 2,900+ unique settlements (including duplicates across mods). Data sources: City Population, OpenStreetMap, GeoNames, Wikipedia, Google Maps. Installation order: It is CRITICAL to place Census above all localization and city renaming mods in the mod manager! It will overwrite only city names, preserving other translations (UI, cargo, etc.) from your other mods. Correct mod base selection: To minimize conflicts (like incorrect license plates or dealership bugs), ensure you use the appropriate Census version for your specific mod setup. The mod is optimized for major map combinations. (Pro-Mods + RoExtended)-based (Pro-Mods + BalkanXP)-based (EuRoadNet + RoExtended)-based (EuRoadNet + BalkanXP)-based ⚠️ Known Issues: No integration yet for the MAPA AMERICAM BRASIL mod due to lack of accessible city data. Given the vast scale of changes, occasional mistakes are possible: typos, incorrect region identification for cities with duplicate names, etc. 🙌 Important for the Community: We're striving for perfection, but mistakes can happen!
