BeamPedestrian Tool
version 0.8 - public-testing-release
With the Pedestrians tool, you can make all performance & gameplay relevant settings. You can change the spawn density, the render distance and limit the overall pedestrian amount (up to 100 pedestians).
The models have been optimized to allow for massive pedestrian simulations, meaning spawning fewer pedestrians will have only little to no impact on performance. However, it is not recommended to turn up all sliders to the max, the render distance slider will have the most noticeable impact on performance.
Install:
Copy the PedestrianTool.zip file as it is (DO NOT UNPACK IT) into:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive\current\mods\repo\
-> Install is the same way for every pedestrian data pack.
The Tool will not work without Pedestrian Data Packs, so make sure you have them downloaded and installed too in the /repo folder. Pedestrian Data Packs need to be installed as separate mods for each map.
Controls
In-game, go to UI-Apps -> enable PedestrianTool Window. The settings window will then open automatically everytime a map is loaded. You can hide it with alt+u.
You dont essentially need to have the tool window open, the pedestrians will load automatically if the pedestrian data pack for the map is installed. For now it is not recommended to change the slider settings too much, as the predefined values will probably work best. You can always reset sliders to default values with righ-click on a slider.
Future Update Plans
The Tool will get updated with more features, animations and pedestrian models soon, which will be first accessible as early access for supporters here on patreon. I really appreciate your support, it means alot and plays a vital role in the development of this project. I am a solo creator and do all of this in my free time, and working out these mods takes a lot of time, so again, thank you very much for supporting the development. I am looking forward to hear your feedback and ideas for upcoming updates. This is a community driven project so your opinions will shape how the development turns out.
I will try my best to turn this into a more fun & interactive mod together with your feedback, also with more variety in models & animations. Further plans you can find in the official announcement post.
I hope you have fun with this first testing release, let me your feedback and wishes for future updates below.
